Madeline Jane Banta

Madeline Jane Banta enjoys a dual career as a pianist and harpist. Already with degrees in Bachelor of Music, Major in Piano Performance (Magna cum laude) from St. Scholastica’s College and Bachelor in Arts Major in Social Sciences at the Ateneo De Manila, she adds the degree of Master of Music, Major in Harp Performance, having recently graduated from a two-year program at the State University of New York.  Aside from performing as a harpist, she was also a Graduate Assistant for Piano in 2016 to 2017 at the said school, frequently accompanying Music majors in performances, exams and graduation recitals, and playing in the Wind Symphony.

Having been back home, she is excited to resume her successful music career in Manila.  It has been an interesting combination of mostly teaching piano, accompanying, playing harp, piano and celesta for the major orchestras in the Philippines (Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Manila Symphony Orchestra, Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, Metro Manila Concert Orchestra), and playing the keyboard for the major theater companies in Manila (Repertory Philippines, NineWorks Productions, Resorts World, Upstart Productions, Atlantis, Concertus).  Shows include the Manila run of Wicked, Rent, King and I, Scrooge, Sound of Music, La Cage Aux Folles, the Fantasticks, Shrek, The Producers, etc.  She also played as soloist with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra as part of its conductor’s search in 2003. She is currently rehearsing for the musical Spamalot, directed by Joel Trinidad, for Upstart Productions.
