Rafael John M. Rubio
Rafael John M. Rubio graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education, Trumpet Emphasis at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music. He studied under Prof. Roger Llado, a former principal trumpet of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mr. Rubio won the 1st Prize at the National Music Competition for Young Artist Trumpet Category in 2014.
He was a member of the first Asian Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2015 and performed in various cities and concert halls in Manila, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan. During the tour, he was taught by Eric Miyashiro (former lead trumpet of Buddy Rich and a world-renowned jazz lead trumpet).
Mr. Rubio has performed in various ensembles and orchestras in the country including Repertory Philippines, Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, Metro Manila Concert Orchestra and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, to name a few.
Currently, Mr. Rubio is the Trumpet lecturer at St. Scholastica’s College Manila and at The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth. He is also the Assistant Principal Trumpet of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra..
