In the past 2 years, we have done 2 student recitals. And we have done these in a mini concert spaces where we are all together, enjoying each of your children’s performance. But this year, we are doing it virtually.
As we are in the middle of this pandemic, this is now our new normal. Instead of our usual home based music lessons, we had transitioned to online lessons. We must admit, that the transition was not easy in the beginning, and therefore we have to adjust and find ways to make things work and pull everything together. There were some stumbling blocks along the way like poor internet connection, sometimes internets are down, and I have to study how to use Zoom and google meet, because these are the online platforms that we have to use.
But the most challenging part I think is making sure that our young students, especially our beginners, will be able to enjoy as well as learn in this virtual setup.
Each recital that we do here in SMA, is very special for us.
We are not only celebrating the fact that our students are learning to play their respective instruments, but that they are willing to share this gift with others. It is not an easy task to perform, and be confident, but by doing this, the confidence our children are building by learning to do this from a young age is so valuable.
Our recital will showcase a wide variety of levels from young beginners right through to advanced students. Music has no age. We can learn any musical instruments in any season of our lives.
This could be some of our students first year recital, and for the others, could be their 2nd and 3rd.year Each and every recitalist especially the beginners here today has shown incredible growth and progress and they should feel very proud of what they have achieved.
I and my fellow music teachers, feel so fortunate to teach such a special group of students. This year has been full of learning, progress, and accomplishments.
Finally, we would like to take a moment to thank the parents. I am truly grateful for the opportunity and the trust you have given Sarreal Music Academy to teach your children each and every week; they continue to amaze us with their intelligence, their energy and their sense of humor. Thank you for the time you invest in supporting your child at home and making us part of your child’s musical education.
For our adult students, Thank you for recognizing the value of music in your life and realizing that it’s not too late to learn an instrument.
Finally, Before we begin, I’d like to remind you that students placed at the end of the recital program have worked just as hard to prepare their performances as have students placed at the start. I would ask that you remain until the end of the program to ensure that all of these wonderful children experience the supportive and full audience that they deserve.
And now we’re ready to begin!
